This project utilized flat pattern techniques to create a denim coord set, inspired by traditional denim jacket, chore coat, and jean silhouettes. Scallops are used as a design element throughout the set, like along the side seams, collar, and waistband. Scraps were used to make a matching headband and purse. Covered buttons at the cuffs take inspiration from traditional shirt and blouse cuffs. As a set, this outfit takes elements of hard-wearing, traditional workwear and casual wear and adds a softness and elegance through the use of traditionally feminine design elements.
